The Brazilian Renan Barao has a new opponent at UFC 148, an event that takes place on July 7th, in Las Vegas, in the United States. The fighter from Rio Grande do Norte was initially scheduled to face Jeff Hougland, but the North American was called up to fight in another Ultimate event, on May 15th. As a result, Salvadoran Ivan Menjivar was chosen to compete against the Tupiniquim athlete. The UFC also confirmed that this confrontation will be the new challenger for the bantamweight belt.

Barão, who has a professional record of 28 wins and one loss, is experiencing an excellent moment in his career. Without knowing what it's like to lose since 2005, Renan is coming off a triumph in Ultimate, when he beat Scott Jorgensen at UFC 143, held in February this year.
