Fabricio Werdum helped rescue a couple who drowned on Torrance beach, in Los Angeles (USA) on Sunday afternoon (20). The former UFC champion was on a picnic with his family when he saw two young men drowning. In an interview with the Tatame magazine website, the heavyweight fighter said that when he realized that there was only one lifeguard to rescue the teenagers, he decided to help him and immediately entered the sea.

“I was on the beach with the girls, when I saw the lifeguard turn on the siren, on the edge of the beach, next to us. I wasn't seeing anyone drowning, but I was in that tension. When he (lifeguard) got out of the car, he was alone. I said 'no, I'll help too'. I took off my sweatshirt, ran towards him and asked if he wanted help, he said yes, because they were two 16-year-old children. He took his board, went out in despair and the child screamed at the bottom, the wave catching the two children. I put on that orange buoy, which has a rope, then I crossed it to the chest and arrived before the lifeguard. I said 'get the girl, I'll get the boy'. We take them both and leave, but our hearts are racing. It was a very quick deal”, said the Brazilian.
Werdum's wife, Karine Groff, recorded the moment the teenagers were pulled from the sea.
