Ultimate plans fight between Anthony Pettis and Stephen Thompson at UFC Nashville

Ultimate seems to have liked the suggestion of Anthony Pettis of a possible move to welterweight. According to the ESPN channel's North American website, 'Showtime' will move up a category and face Stephen Thompson. The confrontation between the compatriots should be the main attraction of the UFC Nashville, March 23, in the state of Tennessee (USA).

The former WEC and UFC lightweight champion will make his debut in the welterweight division. Currently, Pettis occupies eighth place in the rankings in the under-70,3kg category. In its last engagement, 'Showtime' was defeated by Tony Ferguson at UFC 228 in October last year. At 31 years old, Anthony has 29 fights in his career, with 21 triumphs and eight setbacks.

Stephen Thompson comes from a defeat to Darren till at UFC Liverpool in May 2018. In 20127, 'Wonderboy' challenged twice for the welterweight title against Tyron woodley and there was a draw and a defeat. The North American has 18 fights on his record, with 14 wins, three setbacks and one draw. He currently ranks fourth in the welterweight rankings.
