UFC will not hold a world tour for the fight between Nurmagomedov and McGregor

The reason for canceling a world tour to promote the fight is lack of time, as the duel will take place in October this year

Contrary to what Ultimate did in many of the organization's big fights, the expected fight between the lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov e Conor McGregor There will be no world tour to promote it. The statement was made by UFC president, Dana White during the post-event press conference in Los Angeles this Saturday (04).

“We don’t have time for a world tour. These guys will fight in the first week of October. Both go to camp. We're going to do something fun, we're going to do some different things. We are literally having a big meeting on Monday to get everything in order and get going,” Dana explained.

The organization's president guarantees that the decision not to hold the tour was not motivated by a feud between the fighters who could attack each other before UFC 229. But rather, because there is no time to send the fighters around the world for a week. If the promotion took place, fighters would lose time in their training.

“We are very confident that we can control what happens. What happened in New York, obviously, if you look at what happened, everyone was loading onto the buses, everything was done, and our team still handled it very well with what happened,” White assured.

Conor McGregor returns to competing in Mixed Martial Arts after spending almost two years away from the cage. His last fight was against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in November 2016 when he won the lightweight title.
