The featherweight champion, Max Holloway should put his belt up for grabs against Brian ortega at UFC 226 on July 7 in Las Vegas. However, he was removed from the event due to concussion-like symptoms. 'Blessed' has undergone examinations in recent weeks and less than a month after his departure ensures that he is ready to return to the Octagon before the end of the year.

“They still haven't figured out what was wrong, but everything is fine. They're just being cautious with me now. I think that after this period of 30 days of suspension, we should get back to business, we hope that before the end of the year I will fight again”, Holloway explained to journalist Ariel Helwani on Monday (30).

During preparations for the event in New York, Holloway said he was feeling fine, but things “started to go wrong” the weekend before UFC 226. The champion still doesn't know what caused the feeling, but says That wasn't weight loss or getting knocked out in training.

“I’ve seen a lot of the things they’ve been talking about in the media – weight cutting, stroke, whatever. This was not a weight cut. I've done this over 20 times. There are rumors going around that I was knocked out in training. I wanted it to be like that, but it didn't happen. At the end of the day, I wish the answer was that simple. It would be easier to move forward if we knew what happened”, assured Max.

The featherweight champion's 2018 year started off on the wrong foot, Holloway was forced to give up a title defense against Frankie Edgar at UFC 222 in March due to a leg injury. Then Max got a chance to win the vacant lightweight title as a replacement for Tony Ferguson against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223 in April, but was stopped by the New York Athletic Commission. Including his departure from UFC 226, in six months Blessed was withdrawn after three fights.

The featherweight champion hopes to “turn the tide” after being released to return to the Ultimate Octagon. “I am very confident that I will be back before the end of the year. The year is not over, the story is not written. We have a lot more to write and we’re just getting started,” Holloway promised.
