Conor McGregor accepts deal with NY Court and is free to fight

Fighter admitted guilt for vandalism and will have to pay back the bus company and do community service and the charges were dropped

Conor McGregor accepted an agreement with the North American court this Thursday (26) in New York. The Irish fighter pleaded guilty to vandalism and was cleared of all assault and serious criminal charges. With this, his criminal record is cleared, and he is free to fight again.

McGregor arrived at court around 9am (Brasília time) this Thursday. The Irishman and Cian Cowley pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, or vandalism, which is considered a lesser crime under local law. They will be punished by: repaying the bus company for the damage caused, completing community service and self-control classes. In addition to the penalties, three protection orders were issued in the name of Michael chiesa, Ray Borg and Jason Ledvetter.

Upon leaving the New York courtroom, McGregor thanked the prosecutor and the judge. Soon after, he went straight to his car and left the place.

“We are grateful that the prosecution treated this case like any other. McGregor is looking forward to completing his community service and continuing his career. He did not plead guilty to a crime, so this will not have any impact on his immigration status or his ability to continue fighting,” said Bruce Mathis, McGregor’s lawyer.

The case

McGregor was facing charges for the attack on a bus carrying athletes after UFC 223 Media Day in April in New York. The fighter threw objects at the vehicle, which included a cargo cart, which broke the windows and caused cuts to the fighters. Michael chiesa and Ray Borg, as well as an Ultimate employee.

As a result, the Irishman received more than ten charges, which included serious crimes of aggression, which carried potential maximum sentences of seven years in prison.
