In an interview with the American website “MMA Sucka”, JBC confirmed the agreement with Brave, revealing that the organization of the event made a difference when it came to his choice.

“I went to some Brave events as a corner of training companions and I really like the team and the organization, the way they do things. Brave is one of the biggest organizations, so I want to test myself against some of the biggest international fighters,” said Kennedy, who was cornerman for Gary Mangat, Brave's former bantamweight title challenger.

The Canadian joins Brave's featherweight division, headed by world champion Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame. The Algerian became the first belt holder in Brave's history to defend his title, when he beat Jakub Kowalewicz at Brave 10 – he had won the belt in a victory against Mexican Masio Fullen at Brave 4, in March last year.
