Although it is not yet official, there is speculation that the announcement of the event could be made during UFC 224, next Saturday (12), in Rio de Janeiro. The show in the capital of São Paulo should be the organization's third and last in Brazil in 2018. The first edition of the year took place in the city of Belém (PA), in February.

The last time São Paulo hosted a UFC event, in October last year, the home athletes did not perform well in the main fights. Lyoto Machida was knocked out by Derek Brunson, While Colby covington overcame Demian Maia in the judges' decision. The fight between the Brazilian and the North American still caused a headache for the organization. After winning the duel, Covington referred to the Brazilian people as 'filthy animals'. The fans in the gym didn't like it and threw several goals at the fighter.

So far there is no fight or athlete scheduled to perform in the event.
