The Brazilian Gilbert Durinho his wish came true in Ultimate and will return to the Octagon at the beginning of next year against Canadian Olivier Aubin-Mercier. The duel will take place at UFC Orlando, with a date set for February 24th. The announcement of the fight was made by the organization itself through social media and its official website.
On Twitter, the jiu-jitsu black belt celebrated the chance to face Aubin-Mercier who has won three consecutive victories, beating Tony Martin, Drew dober and Thibault Gouti in sequence. Durinho recovered from the setback suffered by compatriot Michel Trator by impressively knocking out Jason Saggo in the first round of the fight between the two, which took place at UFC Pittsburgh.
Ward of Vitor belfort, Durinho has seven fights in the UFC, having won five and two losses. In addition to Trator, the Brazilian was also defeated by the Russian Rashid Magomedov. The lightweight has triumphs over Lukasz Saewski, Christos Giagos, Andreas Stahl and Alex Cowboy, not to mention the devastating victory over Jason Saggo. Aubin-Mercier, who entered the UFC through TUF Nations: Canada x Australia, lost the tournament final to Chad Laprise and only has one more loss in his career, to Brazilian Carlos Diogo Ferreira.
