Former middleweight champion, Michael Bisping comes from two consecutive defeats in Ultimate, in less than a month. Three weeks after losing his title to Georges St Pierre, the Englishman was knocked out in the first round by Kelvin Gastelum in the main fight of UFC China. Bisping's inclusion in the duel was criticized, as he ended up finishing with a rear naked choke by GSP. And the “Count” admitted that he should not have agreed to face Kelvin.

On his podcast “Believe You Me”, Bisping declared that he felt physically and psychologically tired, but his “ego” did not let him deny the offer and he truly thought he could beat Gastelum.
“I didn’t win the fight, as everyone knows and saw. I felt great going into this fight, I really did. But looking back, was I overtrained, and physically and emotionally tired? Yes I was. But that's the problem with having a big f... ego and thinking that you can still get there and win. And I really went in thinking I could beat Gastelum. But I don't take any merit from him. He caught me with a beautiful left hook, which knocked me out. God bless him,” commented Bisping, who called the fight a “big gamble.”
“It really was a gamble, a big gamble that didn’t work out. If I had won, it would have been great, but that's what you do in this game. You roll the dice, give yourself a chance and hope everything goes well. I really think that the best man, in this case the Kelvin Gastelum, won the fight (…) I don’t regret making that bet”, concluded the Englishman.
