The heavy weight Derrick Lewis returns to the octagon at UFC 216, on October 7, against the former champion Fabricio Werdum. The North American will have the opportunity to recover from the defeat to Mark Hunt, suffered at UFC New Zealand, in June this year. Interestingly, the Brazilian chose Lewis as his next opponent, after refusing Hunt himself. For “Black Beast,” Werdum underestimated him.

Werdum and Hunt have already faced each other once. In a duel valid for the interim heavyweight title, the Brazilian struggled in the first round of UFC 180, but then faked a takedown and came up with a flying knee that put the New Zealander out on the spot. It was the first knockout suffered by Hunt, K-1 champion and known for his striking and heavy hands, within the UFC. After beating Lewis, the “Super Samoan” asked for a rematch with “Vai Cavalo”, but the Brazilian refused.
