The drama is over and Chris Cyborg is free from doping accusations. The Brazilian, who was caught in a surprise test, proved that the substance spironolactone, found in her exam, was part of a medicine prescribed by the doctor to treat an endocrine disorder. As a result, USADA, the United States anti-doping control body, granted the retroactive exemption and the fighter is free to compete again.

Cyborg, 31, tested positive in an out-of-competition urine test conducted on December 05, 2016. Spironolactone is a prohibited substance in the Diuretics and Masking Agents category and is prohibited at all times in the Anti-Doping Policy of the UFC.

Cyborg celebrates

As soon as USADA issued the note granting the retroactive exemption, due to the Brazilian's medical problems, Cyborg celebrated the decision through a long post on her social networks

“I am extremely pleased that USADA took the time to carefully review the detailed application for TUE that I submitted, and agreed that my use of the prescription was always medically justified. I'm looking forward to returning to the Octagon as soon as possible, and proving that I'm the pound-for-pound champion of women's MMA. I would also like to thank my fans for their continued support, which has made a very difficult time a little easier for me,” she wrote,
