Former welterweight champion (under 77kg), Hendricks, who is going through the worst phase of his career, will make his debut in the middleweight division. In the last five times he entered the Octagon, he was defeated four times, adding three in a row. The most recent setback was Neil Magny at UFC 207, in December 2016. At 33 years old, he has 12 triumphs and six setbacks in Ultimate.
Hector Lombard, 38 years old, is not going through a good phase either. Without officially winning since March 2014, he was knocked out in his last two clashes: he lost to Neil Magny, in March, and for Dan Henderson, in June. Hired in gold by the UFC in 2012, the Cuban has not yet convinced the organization: in eight fights, there were four defeats, three wins and one No Contest.
In addition to Cigano, the UFC Halifax card still features, so far, three more Brazilians. Cezar Mutant, Thiago Marreta e Reginaldo Vieira, who face, respectively, Elias Theodorou, Jack Marshman and Aiemann Zahabi. the argentine Santiago Ponzinibbio is also scheduled for the show, and will face Frenchman Nordine Taleb, who knocked out Erick silva on March 2016.
