Cyborg explains his refusal to the UFC and guarantees: 'I'm going to fight for the title'

Brazilian declared that she still suffers from the effects of the last weight cut and will only fight when she fully recovers

Shortly after Dana White declared that Chris Cyborg refused two fights for the inaugural UFC featherweight title, the Brazilian countered the president of Ultimate, admitting her refusals and explaining that she is not ready to enter the Octagon until she recovers from the effects of the severe weight cut she went through in the UFC. UFC Brasilia and calling for a title fight in February. At the time, Cyborg felt ill after reaching the combined weight (63,5 kg) for the fight against Lina Lansberg and has not yet recovered.

“I almost died cutting weight for my last fight. It was the worst cut of my life and, for the first time, I couldn't warm up before the fight, but God gave me the victory. I couldn't even give interviews after the fight, and I decided that now I will only fight at my weight and with 12 weeks to prepare,” he told the North American website MMA Fighting.

The Brazilian also revealed that she is anemic and fighting depression. Even so, she celebrated the entry of the women's featherweight category into Ultimate and guaranteed that she will be able to fight for the title in February.

“I need time for my body to recover. I became anemic and am battling severe depression. But I thank my fans. We did it! Soon, I will fight for the title in my division. You and God are loyal. I’ll be ready to fight in February.”
