Medical suspensions for UFC 16, an event that took place last Saturday (205), at Madison Square Garden were announced this Wednesday (12) by the New York State Athletic Commission. Former middleweight champion Chris Weidman, knocked out by Yoel romero, received a 60-day medical suspension, as did Rafael “Sapo” and Belal Muhammal, knocked out by Tim Boetsch and Vincent Luquerespectively.
Luque, in fact, was the only one to be suspended indefinitely, even though he won the fight in just over a minute. He will need to present tests that prove his good health status to be released.
Eddie Alvarez, knocked out by Conor McGregor in the main fight, he will be away for 30 days. McGregor, the main star of the night, did not receive any punishment and is free to fight whenever he wants. Tyron woodley, which tied with Stephen Thompson and kept the two welterweight belts, he was also not suspended.
