To defeat Daniel Cormier and regain the light heavyweight belt at UFC 200, Jon Jones He pays attention to the smallest details. The interim champion of the category even complained about the choice of the Nevada Athletic Commission, which appointed veteran John McCarthy to mediate the fight from inside the Octagon.

In a press conference held last Tuesday (28), Jones declared that he was dissatisfied with the choice of “Big John”, with whom he says he does not have a pleasant connection. McCarthy refereed three of his UFC fights, against Lyoto Machida, Vitor belfort e Alexander Gustafson.

“I would prefer any other referee over him. It's a mixture of several things that have happened over the years. It's a question of energy: I don't feel like we have the best energy. And I don't think I need that against me when I'm already fighting a great fighter like DC. This is my life, my story, my legacy. If I were him, I wouldn't want to be part of this, you know? If he’s not welcome, why would he want to be part of someone’s big night who doesn’t want him there?”, said the fighter, in an excerpt reproduced by the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

With McCarthy as referee, Jones and Cormier will take part in the main fight of UFC 200, on July 9, in Las Vegas (USA).
