In May, Brooks relinquished the Bellator belt and left the organization, but, for contractual reasons, he would have to wait until June 15th to be able to negotiate with other companies. According to the website “MMA Junkie”, the fighter signed with the UFC quickly as soon as he was released.
His first fight in the Octagon will be on July 8th, at the TUF 23 Finale, in Las Vegas (USA). Brooks will face veteran Ross Pearson, who is coming off a victory over Chad Laprise in March. The main fight of the night will be between Claudia Gadelha e Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the women's strawweight belt.
Brooks, 29, won the Bellator title in 2014 when he beat Michael chandler twice – first for the interim belt, then for the permanent one. After that, he defended the title twice, most recently against Marcin Held in November.
