Ex-UFC Fábio Maldonado signs with XFC and debuts in March

A few weeks after being released by the UFC, “Caipira de Aço” Fábio Maldonado has a new home. The light heavyweight was confirmed as a new addition to the XFC event and will make his debut in March.

At 35 years old, Maldonado has a professional record of 22 wins and nine losses. In the UFC since 2010, the “Caipira de Aço” was fired by the organization after suffering two consecutive defeats, to Quinton Rampage Jackson e Corey anderson.

According to the North American website “MMA Fighting”, Maldonado will face Andrew Smith in an event to be held on March 19, in São Paulo (SP).

Andrew Flores Smith, 31 years old, has a professional record of 15 wins and nine losses in MMA. The North American, who became known to the Brazilian public after being defeated by Pedro Rizzo in his farewell to the ring, is coming off a victory over Daniel Marquez in September last year.
