The confusion surrounding the fight between Cain Velazquez e Fabricio Werdum, who were injured and left the heavyweight title fight less than two weeks before the event, still continues to give Ultimate a headache.

After announcing that John hendricks e Stephen Thompson would be the main fight of the event, which would also no longer be broadcast on pay-per-view and would migrate to cable TV in the United States, the Ultimate organization also confirmed the name change of the card, which will now be titled “Fight Night”.
With the change in the event on February 6th, UFC 196 becomes the card that was previously known as UFC 197, scheduled for March 5th and headlined by the lightweight title fight between Rafael dos Anjos e Conor McGregor.
The change also meant that the 2016 Ultimate calendar “gained” an event in pay-per-view. This is because, as UFC 200 is still scheduled for July, the months of May and June, which previously would only host one numbered event, will now feature two nights of fights from the organization's most important series.
