The UFC canceled the event it would hold in Rio de Janeiro in March 2016 and it should take a little longer to return to Brazil. The person who revealed the change of plans was Anderson Silva, during a telephone press conference held to promote their fight against Michael Bisping, in February.

Originally, the HSBC Arena gymnasium would host UFC 197, from the series broadcast on pay-per-view in the United States and which generally features high-profile fights. Anderson stated that he was approached to fight on the attraction, but “the global economic crisis” forced Ultimate to postpone his next visit to Brazil.

“The plan was for me to fight in Brazil against 'I don't know who', but with this situation happening in the country, in economic terms and everything, the UFC canceled the event for now,” said Anderson.

Thus, UFC 197, which would originally take place on March 5th, remains without a defined location. Anderson was even speculated to fight in the attraction against Vitor belfort, but “Spider” was recently confirmed in a duel against Bisping, in February, in London (England).
