The situation got complicated for one of the Brazilians who has been active in the UFC for the longest time. Gleison Tibau, who had already shown an irregularity in an anti-doping test outside the competition period, also failed a test carried out on the night of his last fight, at UFC Fight Night 77, in São Paulo, when he submitted Abel Trujillo.

Ultimate announced that both the organization and the fighter were notified about the irregularity this week. Tibau had already been provisionally suspended since the beginning of the month, when he was caught with the substance erythropoietin under the new testing policy of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

“The United States Anti-Doping Agency has notified both Gleison Tibau and the UFC of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation arising from a sample collected immediately following his fight in São Paulo, Brazil, on November 7, 2015. Tibau and the UFC were previously notified that the fighter had been provisionally suspended due to a potential violation of the Anti-Doping Policy resulting from a test outside of the competition period,” the UFC said in a statement. “USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle results management and the appropriate adjudication of this case involving Tibau. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time, as the process progresses”, he added.
