Current UFC light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier believes that the only athlete capable of overcoming him is precisely the last holder of the category's belt, Jon Jones. For him, the two occupy a separate space among fighters weighing up to 93 kg, ahead of the rest of the category.

"I think I am, Jon Jones and then everything else. If he's not fighting, then it's just me. People may like it or hate it, but it's the truth. Between me and him and the rest of the division, there is a gap. I think I can show it in this period when he is away and I have the belt”, analyzed Cormier, in an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”.

Jones was the dominant light heavyweight champion, including a victory over Cormier in January. After that, he got involved in a fight outside the Octagon and ended up having his title stripped. Cormier, therefore, was chosen to compete for the title, winning Anthony Johnson in May. Now, Cormier will defend the belt in October, against Alexander Gustafson, in the main fight of UFC 192.
