In the main fight of UFC 191, on September 5th, Demetrious Johnson wants more than simply defending the flyweight belt of the main MMA organization on the planet. The champion of the under-57 kg division wants to get one step closer to the Ultimate title defense record, currently held by Anderson Silva.

The Brazilian, middleweight champion between 2006 and 2013, successfully defended his title ten times. The number has remained unreachable since then: Jon Jones he reached nine in the light heavyweight division, but ended up losing the belt due to extra-octagon problems; already José Aldo, leader among current champions, has seven at featherweight.
Johnson still has a considerable way to go, with six, but sees his fight against John Dodson another step towards achieving your goal. “I want to break the record for Anderson Silva and I know I can do it. Breaking the record is my ultimate goal. I've already made six title defenses and I still have five to go, so I'm going to move on”, said the flyweight champion, in an interview with the website of the English newspaper “Daily Star”.
Interestingly, Dodson was Johnson's first challenger as featherweight champion, in a fight held in 2013. At the time, the two had a close fight, with Johnson winning the decision. This time, the champion believes he will have a calmer life. “He’s only had three fights since then. I improved a lot more than him, because, obviously, I had five fights. I showed in my previous fights that I only need a second to complete my work. I’m focused on getting there and finishing where we left off the last time we fought,” he added.
