One of the most striking, and controversial, themes of the duel between Vitor belfort e Chris Weidman is Testosterone Replacement Treatment (TRT), which the Brazilian underwent, but which is currently prohibited by the Nevada Athletic Commission. As expected, the controversial hormone replacement and the way in which Vitor will adapt to fighting without treatment for the first time in recent years were topics of the interview with Weidman, but the champion preferred to avoid the issue and went off on a tangent.

“I still haven't seen Vitor all week. I've seen photos of him, and he looks smaller than he was in 2013. But that doesn't matter, because I've seen fights where he wasn't as strong as he was in recent years, and he did very well. I’m not worried about how he’s going to be, because I’m going to beat him anyway”, said the North American, in an interview with the “Combate” channel website.

After the open training sessions, this Wednesday (20), Weidman also rejected any type of rivalry against Brazilian athletes or Brazil and said that he will even miss the provocations from fans on social media. “I’m not tired of Brazilians. I'm not tired of fighting Brazilian athletes, because they are some of the best fighters in the history of the middleweight division and I'm honored to be part of it. The last years of my life were spent fighting Brazilians and I got used to my Twitter receiving messages in Portuguese, and I'm going to miss that. I’m happy to have fought against so many Brazilians, this is an important part of my life”, she said.

This Saturday (23), Chris Weidman will face the fifth Brazilian opponent in his short MMA career – previously, the American had already beaten Valdir Araújo, Demian Maia, Anderson Silva (twice) and Lyoto Machida. At the MGM Grand Garden, in Las Vegas, Weidman will face the carioca Vitor belfort, in the co-main fight of UFC 187, an event headlined by the duel for the light heavyweight belt between Anthony Johnson e Daniel Cormier.
