In the second most important fight of the night, between Chris Weidman e Vitor belfort for the middleweight title, Herb Dean will be the mediator inside the octagon. The referee acted in some of the most important fights of the American's career, including the two victories over Anderson Silva and the successful belt defense against Lyoto Machida. Belfort, in turn, never had a fight refereed by Dean. The judges of the fight will be Sal D'Amato, Marcos Rosales and Junichiro Kamijo.
D'Amato has already scored some of the most important fights recently held by the UFC, including the duel between Anderson Silva e Nick Diaz, in which the Brazilian won (49 to 46). Rosales judged fights that had controversial results, such as Claudia Gadelha x Joanna Jedrzejczyk e Diego Sanchez x Ross Pearson, but scored the victory for the Brazilian and the Englishman.
In the main attraction of the event, the veteran “Big” John McCarthy will be the referee of Anthony Johnson x Daniel Cormier for the vacant light heavyweight belt. The referees will be Adelaide Byrd, Derek Cleary and Chris Lee.
