The contract was signed on Friday night (20) and was announced by Mayweather on social media. “What the whole world has been waiting for has arrived. Mayweather vs. Pacquiao on May 2, 2015 is a done deal. I promised the fans I would give them this deal and I did. We are going to make history on May 2nd. This is the contract signed by the two fighters,” Floyd wrote on his profile.
In turn, Pacquiao was also pleased that the fight was finally scheduled. “I’m very happy that Mayweather and I can give the fight that the fans have been waiting for so long.” said Manny through Top Rank, the company that coordinates his career.
History
The fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao has been expected for more than five years, when the athletes were at the peak of their careers. But obstacles in negotiations over athletes' salaries were the biggest obstacle. Although it is not official, there is speculation that Floyd will receive more than US$250 million for the fight – around R$712 million at the current price.
At 36 years old, Pacquiao has a professional record of 57 victories, 38 of which were by knockout, five defeats and two draws. In turn, Mayweather is undefeated as a professional and has accumulated 47 wins with 26 by knockout.
