Alexander Shlemenko scores impressive knockout of Melvin Manhoef at Bellator 133

Carnival got off to a busy start for MMA fans. On Friday night, the 133rd edition of Bellator rocked the city of Fresno, California (USA). In the main fight of the night, former middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko found his way back to victory.

The Russian knocked out Dutchman Melvin Manhoef in the second round and recovered from consecutive losses to Tito Ortiz and Brandon Halsey, who cost him the title.

The fight

Bellator's main fight started off evenly. With two experts in the stand-up fight, study prevailed in the first moves, but Shlemenko tried to surprise with takedown attempts. In turn, Manhoef resisted well in the first part. In the second round, however, the Dutchman felt the pace imposed by the former champion.

Shlemenko landed a beautiful round punch and knocked down his opponent Manhoef. He still tried to resist, but with a series of punches from the Russian, the referee interrupted the dispute.

Pat Curran loses again

If Alexander Shlemenko did well, another former champion could not have the same happiness. The former owner of the lightweight belt, Pat Curran, suffered another setback within Bellator.

Then lose the title to Patrick Pitbull, the North American was defeated by Daniel weichel in the judges' split decision.
