After a long wait, Michael Chander was finally able to celebrate the official duel in front of Conor McGregor. On his Instagram, the lightweight (under 70,3kg) said that he never doubted that the clash would get off the ground and revealed that the organization gave him guarantees that the clash against the Irishman would take place.

“I never doubted this as much as you do. I had a lot more guarantees behind the scenes than you can imagine. I just knew it would take time. I’ve had times where I haven’t done so well with it, but hard work eventually pays off, you just have to be there when it happens,” Chandler said.
More than a year ago, Chandler had a verbal agreement to face McGregor. Both starred in the thirty-first season of 'The Ultimate Fighter' (TUF), but the eventual clash between the athletes was marked by uncertainty.
Despite his success in the sport, Conor is not enjoying a great moment in his career. Today, the Irishman has accumulated three defeats in the last four appearances, having won against Donald Cerrone, in 2020, as its last positive result.
Chosen to share the octagon with McGregor on his return to the sport, he waited anxiously for the fight to be confirmed for more than a year. The ex-Bellator legend's last commitment took place at the end of 2022, when the American ended up being surpassed by Dustin poirier.
