In great expectation of receiving a rematch against Islam makhachev for the lightweight title (up to 70,3kg.), Arman Tsarukyan decided to extend the opportunity. According to the athlete's manager, Ultimate offered the Armenian an unprecedented chance after winning the UFC 300, however the invitation was denied due to the short preparation time. The confrontation would take place on June 1st.

“The fight against Islam on June 1 was offered to us. This happened immediately after the fight (against Do Bronx). Well, before the fight I had an understanding that it was not viable to go for a title fight against Islam at the last minute. Especially in the first place position that was achieved”, declared the businessman in an interview with Vadim Tikhomirov.
