Ben Rothwell didn't take kindly to comments from alistair overeem after the fight between the two in early September. The Dutchman, who lost by knockout in the first round, even stated that the defeat was the result of inattention, and that in ten fights against Rothwell, he would win nine.

The American showed outrage at Overeem's statement. “The general consensus is that this guy had some brain damage. I think he’s been getting hit on the head so much to make that kind of comment,” said Rothwell, in an interview with “The MMA Hour” podcast.
According to Rothwell, Overeem should keep quiet and focus on his next fight, which will be on December 13th against Stefan struve. “If I were his coach or training partner, I would say, 'Dude, shut up. Stay away from the media. You're going to have a fight you can't lose against a guy who can beat you and you're talking nonsense about the guy who just beat you. It makes no sense'. This will only harm you. I don't know what he's trying to do, because every time he talks trash about Travis Browne or Antonio Pezão, the story did not end well for him. And he’s doing it again”, he said.
