After UFC victory, Khabib's cousin causes furore with pro-Palestine statements and attacks feminist movement

Umar Nurmagomedov not limited to celebrating his victory over Bekzat Almakhan last Saturday (02th), at UFC Las Vegas 87. The former champion's cousin Khabib Nurmagomedov took the opportunity to express her support for Palestine and criticize the feminist movement, generating controversy on social media.

Umar, who is a conservative Muslim and a native of Dagestan, an autonomous Russian republic, said he was happy for his victory but saddened by the situation in Gaza, where there is a conflict between Palestinians and Israelis.

He took the opportunity to attack feminists, accusing them of having double standards and not caring about Palestinian women and children, who are the main victims of the war.

“Some bad things are happening in the world. All the feminist groups are starting to appear and talk about everything, but the same situation is happening in Gaza, also with women. They are not animals. But some countries continue to support this. They have no humanity,” said Umar.

The statements of Umar Nurmagomedov had repercussions on social media, where he received both praise and criticism. Some internet users supported his pro-Palestinian and anti-feminist stance, while others accused him of being intolerant, sexist and ignorant. O UFC, who tends to value the right of expression, has not yet commented on the matter.
