The series of setbacks that have plagued the UFC 180 card are not stopping. Less than a day after the announcement of the champion's departure Cain Velazquez of the event, it was the turn of the North American Joe lauzon be removed from fight night. The reason for Lauzon's cut, who had already taken Norman Parke's place in the fight against Diego Sanchez, was not announced, as was its eventual replacement.

The information was released by the North American website “MMA Junkie”. The news reached Diego Sanchez, who used his official profile on Twitter  to try to confirm the opponent's cut. “Joe lauzon, is it true that you are out?”, the fighter published on the social network. In addition, Sanchez also addressed another message to UFC president Dana White and even the fighter Conor McGregor, asking about the opponent's situation. Despite his effort, the Jackson's MMA athlete received no response.
