I confess disaffection with Kamaru Usman e Khamzat Shimaev, Colby covington surprised when evaluating the outcome of the confrontation between the highlights of Ultimate that took place in UFC 294. In conversation with the press at 'half day', the challenger for the welterweight title (up to 77,1kg.) disagreed with the judges and pointed to victory for his Nigerian rival. On that occasion, the representative of the United Arab Emirates overcame his opponent in the majority decision.

“I thought he (Usman) won. He was better at striking, he managed to take down and Khamzat was afraid of the stand-up fight. Just look at the significant blows he (Chimaev) dealt. If it had been a five-round fight, Usman would have destroyed him and won in the fast lane. He (Usman) did well. He accepted the fight five days in advance (replacing the then-injured Paulo borrachinha), in a category above (middleweight). He won and a lot of fans agree,” Covington said.

Covington's speech is surprising because it is about Kamaru. For years, the fighters have nurtured a fierce welterweight rivalry.

The fighters shared the octagon twice, in a clash valid for the title. With promotion marked by provocations from Colby, the North American was surpassed in opportunities by the then champion of the group.
