The recent defeat to Mike Perry at the 56th edition of BKFC, the biggest bare-knuckle boxing event in the world, last Saturday (2), it left harsh marks on the face of former UFC lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) Eddie Alvarez.
In a social media post last Monday (4), Alvarez confirmed the injuries suffered in the defeat. The former UFC champion stated that he suffered two fractures in the orbital bone on his left side, which caused severe swelling, left his face deformed and led his corner to withdraw from the fight and declare Perry's victory at the end of the second round.

“Two fractures confirmed in my left orbital. One of them was a refracture. It would have been beautiful to finish the show for the fans. I felt great. This game is as wild and unpredictable as possible. That's why I love it. The show goes on! I love you,” Alvarez wrote.
At the press conference held shortly after the event, Eddie Alvarez made a point of congratulating Mike Perry for victory and highlight the rival's qualities, especially firepower.
“I take my hat off to Mike Perry. This guy is a f***ing battle axe. He knows how to take blows, he keeps marching forward and throwing his. He reminded me a lot of myself, so I was facing a little mirror here tonight and Mike was the better man. See, I accept my victories and I accept my defeats in the same way, with my head held high,” said the former UFC champion.
