In preparation for an unprecedented change in his career, Deiveson Figueiredo expects to make his debut in the bantamweight category (up to 61,2kg) after giving up the 'sacrifice' in the weight cut to perform in the flyweight category (up to 56,7kg). At 36 years old, the athlete was chosen to face Rob font, currently placed eighth in the division, in ufc austin, which takes place this Saturday (2).
In an exclusive interview to SUPER FIGHTS, the former champion spoke about the relief of being able to perform in a new category; commented on the choice of Rob font as your adversary; revealed whether there are negotiations with the UFC if he triumphs over the North American and highlighted his expectations for the confrontation.

Dominick Cruz or Rob Font?
The fight would be against the Dominick Cruz, I asked a lot for this fight. He's a very strong name, a former champion and it would be a good fight: former champion x former champion. But then they gave me three options, three fighters to choose from and the best one was Rob font because I had already mentioned my name, which I wanted to welcome, in the top category (roosters). So I decided to choose you so you can welcome me.”
New opponent after three years
“So I fought four times against the Brandon Moreno and being able to fight another guy now is definitely cool, really cool. Despite the story that happened between me and Brendon Moreno, it was an incredible story, a very heavy rivalry. We had four fights in the organization. And now I've moved to another division, unfortunately there won't be a fifth fight unless he changes category as well.”

Possible title shot if he wins
“No negotiations with the UFC (for a title fight if Font beats). Just the first fight in the top category after I decided to change. But I want an opportunity to fight for the belt in the top category and for that I have to test myself. O Rob font He's the first guy I'm going to fight. In the second fight I would like to fight another opponent, if I win I will say the name of the opponent there at the time of the fight”
Expectations for the fight
“The expectation for Saturday's fight is always to go in to win, go in to finish, go in to knockout. I want to be a different guy in the Octagon,” she concluded.
