Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St Pierre should return to MMA training starting next month. The information was given by his head coach, Firas Zahabi, who revealed to the North American website “ESPN” that the Canadian has already recovered from the surgery he recently had on his knee.

According to Zahabi, GSP will train moderately from October onwards. “It won’t be anything too crazy. [The knee] is better than the first time [he had the operation, in 2011]. We were seeing how his quadriceps returned to their normal size much more quickly this time. One knee surgery is never the same as another”, commented Zahabi.

However, the coach avoided commenting on whether the Canadian will actually return to the UFC. “Now every time I talk to him, we never talk about his return. I'm being 100% honest with you. I don't think there's an answer until he gets back in the gym and sees if he wants to continue or not. My personal opinion is that he could still be very competitive. I think he still has some fights, but I don't want to speak for him. He could very well retire and no one will blame him,” Zahabi said.

St. Pierre retired from MMA at the end of last year, giving up his UFC belt. At 33 years old, the Canadian has an MMA record of 25 wins and two losses.
