Five reasons to watch UFC São Paulo

In Brazilian territory, the event headlined by Jailton Malhadinho has 11 fights scheduled

The big moment has arrived. For the second time in the 2023 season, the Ultimate delegation is on Brazilian soil and promotes one of its shows. This Saturday (4), at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium, the UFC Sao Paulo. With 11 fights scheduled, the event features a challenge between Jailton Malhadinho e Derrick Lewis in the main clash.

On the rise in heavyweight (up to 120,2kg.), Jailton Malhadinho wants to extend his unbeaten record and advance towards his dream title fight. With a rival selected at the last minute, the Bahian will need to get past the veteran Derrick Lewis to get closer to the top 5 of the group.

In the co-main fight, Gabriel Bonfim, 'Marretinha', is looking for its second consecutive show in Brazil. After shining at UFC Rio in January, the welterweight (up to 77,1kg) measures strength with Nicholas Dalby.

Promise in middle weight (up to 83,9kg.), Caio Borralho also completes its second challenge of the year. In front of his fans, the São Paulo native tries to maintain 100% success in the organization and needs to go through Abus Magomedov to continue the climb towards the top 15 in the division.

In addition to Malhadinho, Marretinha and Borralho, Brazil has nine other representatives. Rodrigo Zé Colmeia, Rudolph Vieira, elves brener e Kaynan Kruschewsky (face each other), Elizeu Capoeira, Victor Petrino, Denise Gomes, Eduardo Moura e Kaue Fernandes complete the Tupiniquim team.

1) Jailton Malhadinho: a step away from the belt

With an impeccable trajectory in the UFC, Jailton Malhadinho is ready for another challenge. At the weekend, the fighter who was barely touched by his rivals in five challenges with the organization's gloves, will have a big fight, literally.

Initially, the Bahian would measure strength with Curtis blaydes, featured in the top 5 heavyweights. With an injury to the opponent, the Tupiniquim saw Derrick Lewis take over the former rival's position.

In front of the opposing fans, the former title challenger tries to ruin the Brazilian party. Malhadinho, however, has the versatility to nullify the veteran's qualities and continue his dream of competing for the title next.

If he gets past Lewis, Jailton will be one step closer to fighting for the group's belt.

2) The fierce Gabriel Marretinha

Undefeated in his career in professional MMA, Gabriel Marretinha completes his third challenge in Ultimate. Inserted in the division led by Leon edwards, the Brazilian accumulated just over two minutes in the Octagon, having beaten his first rivals in the company in lightning-fast fashion.

In July 2023, the victim was Trevin giles, which ended up finishing at 1m13s in the first round. In his debut, in January of this season, Mounir Lazzez was the target of the moment, losing in just 49 seconds.

High in the company, Gabriel will face the experienced Nicholas Dalby. A new triumph for the Tupiniquim brings the athlete closer to the elite of his category.

3) New rival for Caio Borralho

Promise for the future of Ultimate, Caio Borralho, like Malhadinho, experienced unexpected events on the eve of UFC Sao Paulo. Initially, the 'Fight Nerds' member Nursulton Ruziboev, but, with his opponent leaving, the São Paulo native agreed to face Abus Magomedov.

Faced with one of the victims of the middleweight champion, Sean Strickland, the Brazilian intends to follow the path of success outlined so far. Representative of the organization since 2022, the fighter has accumulated victories in the four challenges carried out so far, two of which were achieved on the fast track.

In case of a new positive result, Borralho puts himself in a favorable position to challenge a member of the top 15 in his category.

4) Rodrigo Zé Colmeia and Rodolfo Vieira

In addition to Malhadinho, Marretinha and Borralho, two other Tupiniquins complete the list of Brazilians on the main card.

In the first clash between heavyweights in UFC Sao Paulo, Rodrigo Zé Colmeia there will be a rematch ahead. Executioner of Don'Tale Mayes In 2020, the Tupiniquim 'giant' wants, three years later, to repeat the feat in front of his former victim.

Jiu-jitsu legend, Rudolph Vieira seeks to confirm stability in Ultimate. After going through a period of oscillation, the ace of the 'gentle art' is trying to add his second consecutive victory and continue his climb towards the top of the middleweight division. To do this, the 'Black Belt Hunter' needs to beat the dangerous Armen petrosyan.

5) More Brazil

O UFC Sao Paulo provides plenty of reasons for Brazilian fans to get excited from start to finish. Just like on the main card, in the preliminary the event also features a true Tupiniquim squad.

In the fight that ends the first half of the show, elves brener, pupil of 'Chute Boxe – Diego Lima', will face his compatriot and Kaynan Kruschewsky. The confrontation takes place at caught weight (up to 74,8kg.).

Company veteran, Elizeu Capoeira there will be a real quarry ahead. At a great stage in his career, with victories in the last two challenges, the Brazilian faces the dangerous Rinat Fakhretdinov.

Another undefeated man to step into the Octagon will be Victor Petrino. Famous for his aggressiveness, the light heavyweight (up to 93kg) will be an opponent of Modest Bukauskas.

Reference in straw weight (up to 52,1kg.), Angela Hill came to Brazil and will be an opponent of Denise Gomes.

Revealed by 'Contender Series', Eduardo Moura, the 'Ronda', will live a dream over the weekend. Promising in the straws, the fighter debuts in the UFC against pressure Montserrat Ruiz.

In the fight that opens the event, Kaue Fernandes debuts in the company against Marc Diakiese. A triumph for the Tupiniquim could confirm the farewell to the opponent, who is going through a desperate phase in Ultimate, with four stumbles in the last six clashes.
