After tearing the meniscus in his left knee and twisting his ankle in two parts during training on August 11, the light heavyweight champion Jon Jones already underwent surgery on site and ended up postponing the duel against Daniel Cormier for January 2015. But Jones hopes to return to training soon, aiming for his eighth belt defense, at UFC 182. On his official profile on Twitter, Bones provided an estimate of his recovery time.

“I am (recovering well). I hope to be 101% in four to six weeks”, wrote the champion on the microblogging network, in response to a message of support from a fan. At the end of last week, Jones had already shown clear improvement, as he release a video in which he appears playing with former boxer Mike Tyson.

Initially, Jones would face Alexander Gustafson at UFC 178, which takes place on September 27th, but the Swede left the fight due to a knee injury. Daniel Cormier, then, was appointed as a replacement and the duel quickly gained great popular appeal after the fighters fought at a press conference in Las Vegas (USA). With Jones himself injured, the fight was postponed until the main fight of UFC 182, the event that opens the organization's 2015 calendar, on January 3rd.
