Since being managed by Scott Coker, former director of Strikeforce, Bellator has been creating important news for its future. After the extinction of the GPs, the current plan is to create at least one female category, with Gina Carano being in the organization's sights. The information was released by the North American website “MMA Fighting”.
This week, rumors emerged that Carano had signed with Bellator after failing in her negotiations with the UFC. The muse was even linked to a fight against Dutch Marloes Coenen in the inauguration of Bellator's featherweight category. Coenen fueled the rumors with a mysterious message on his Facebook account. Instagram.
There's something I want to tell you but I have to wait a little longer…. #MMA

To “MMA Fighting”, Coker denied the rumors, although other sources informed the website that there is in fact a plan to create the category in the organization, and Carano is still negotiating with the company.
Away from MMA since 2009, Carano has shown interest in returning to compete, including negotiating with the UFC regarding a fight against Ronda Rousey. However, the fight against Rousey would be in the bantamweight division (up to 61 kg), and Carano is used to fighting in the featherweight division (up to 66 kg), which would be precisely the category to be created in Bellator. Furthermore, the American has old ties with Coker, having had two fights in Strikeforce, including the last one, against Chris Cyborg.
