The injury suffered by Khabib Nurmagomedov, which took him out of the fight against Donald Cerrone, will have to leave the Russian at the shipyard for a while. According to Mike Constantino, one of his managers, the fighter is expected to undergo surgery and be out of action for the remainder of 2014. The information was given to the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

Nurmagomedov tore the meniscus in his right knee last week, shortly after signing the contract for the fight against Cerrone, which would be in September, at UFC 178. If the surgery and recovery go as expected, the expectation is that the Russian be ready to fight again in January 2015.

At 25 years old, Nurmagomedov has a perfect MMA record, with 22 wins and no losses, with six of his fights in the UFC. Among his victims are Brazilian Gleison Tibau, Thiago tavares e Rafael dos Anjos. The retrospect placed the fighter in fourth place in the lightweight rankings.
