Next Sunday (6), B.J. Penn will return to the UFC after a period of a year and a half away from fighting. However, according to Ultimate's president, Dana White, the fight could also mark the Hawaiian's farewell to the Octagon.
At TUF 19 Finale, Penn will move down to the featherweight division for his third fight against Frankie Edgar, for those who have already lost twice in the top category. In an interview with the program “America's Pregame”, on the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”, White stated that, if Penn is defeated again, he will force the fighter to retire.
“Possibly, this is the last fight of B.J. Penn. If he wins, we'll see what he'll do, but if he loses, I'll force him to retire”, he commented, comparing the case of the former welterweight and lightweight champion with other great names in the history of the sport. “It can be like watching Michael Jordan’s last basketball game, or Tiger Woods’ last golf game,” he said.
