Since TJ Dillashaw surprised the MMA world and won Renan Barao At UFC 173, held on May 24th, a big question has intrigued fans and the specialized media: who will be the first challenger to the new champion? The main possibilities point to two Brazilians: Raphael Assunção, third place in the ranking and undefeated for six fights, or Renan Barao, who would have an immediate rematch for the belt. For Dillashaw's coach, Duane Ludwing, it is Assunção who is closest to fighting for the title.

“I think it would probably make more sense to face the Raphael Assunção (who beat Dillashaw via split decision in October 2013). I wouldn't mind seeing a fight between Barão and Faber again, but Urijah faber will fight Bruce Leroy (nickname of the American Alex Caceres). I'm sure he will beat him. So, after a few months, I would like to see Faber against Barão, with the winner facing whoever passes between Dillashaw and Raphael Assunção, who will be TJ”, said Ludwig, in an interview with the “MMA Fighting” website.

Ludwig ended his cycle at the head of Team Alpha Male precisely at UFC 173, he revealed that he will continue working with some of the team's athletes and stated that he has no doubts which corner he would be in if TJ Dillashaw and Urijah faber, both from the Californian team, would face each other. “Being a leader and a role model for fighters, I shouldn't have a favorite. But I have. For me, Dillashaw is special. I don't know, but he's like a brother of mine. I'm 100% sure that this TJ title is the most important achievement of my career and that happened because it evolved very quickly. In a possible fight against Faber, I have no doubt that I would be in Dillashaw's corner. There is no chance of being in the opposite corner to him.” he concluded.
