For those who follow the national MMA circuit, the names of Fábio Maldonado and Vitor miranda are synonymous with great fights. The athletes have already faced each other twice, both won by Maldonado, and especially the duel at Bitetti Combat 4, in 2009, is still acclaimed by the public to this day. Despite the rivalry in cage, the fighters are friends and this was yet another reason for Vitor to celebrate his presence at the TUF Brasil 3 Final, this Saturday (31). In an interview with SUPER FIGHTS, the finalist of the reality show pointed to the fact that he debuted in the UFC precisely on a card alongside “Caipira de Aço” as a positive sign.
“I'm very happy to be making my UFC debut on the same card as Maldonado. This to me is a divine sign. Because when he entered the UFC we had two battles. I think it was one of the coolest fights to watch in Brazil and we were the protagonists. And when he entered the UFC, I was thinking: 'If he's there and he's doing well, so can I'”, said Vitor.
The Santa Catarina native also took the opportunity to reveal a prediction made to Maldonado in the past. “I fought hard for this (being in the UFC) and I arrived. I had told him once: 'Wait, I'll arrive'. And thank God I arrived. And arriving on the same card as him, that proves that it's a sign, like: 'See? You did it'. And that’s really cool,” he concluded.
