UFC on FOX 11 was undoubtedly not a conventional event on the organization's calendar. Marking the debut of the octagon in Orlando (USA), a city of theme parks in the state of Florida, the night featured a card of 13 fights, a higher number than usual, with the first interview taking place in the mansion of former NBA star Shaquille O 'Neal and had a press conference marked by lightness and good humor.
One of the highlights of the interview were the responses from Fabricio Werdum. Known for being quite fun and relaxed, the Brazilian ventured answers in Portuguese, English and Spanish. “The response was so great that it took two people to translate,” said White after a statement in Spanish from the gaucho.
President Dana White did not let it go. “I was thinking, I have meetings with this guy for hours and we talk for hours in English and then he shows up with a translator?”, joked the manager, after a response in Portuguese. Werdum responded in the same tone. “Everyone understands me, except Dana. When I have a meeting with him, he always says 'yes'. I say 'what's up, Dana, give me money?' and he just answers 'yes, of course”, he replied, eliciting laughter from those present.
If the press conference was marked by a light atmosphere and funny comments, a large part of that was due to Dana White. The manager did not spare the athletes present and joked with several of them. “Is it just me or the Yoel romero Is he the Cuban Godfather?” he said, referring to the similarity of the actor Marlon Brando's fighter's speech in Francis Ford Coppola's film. The president also played with the two beer cans he had Donald Cerrone he had already been drinking and was unforgiving when the “Cowboy” returned from the bathroom just at the end of the interview. “Just in time, we’re done here”, he said.
