Named to the Ultimate 'Hall of Fame', veteran sets expectations for featherweight as spectators' favorite

Retired from MMA since 2022, Donald Cerrone questioned the 'bravery' of the new generation of the sport. Used to promoting exciting clashes throughout his career in the sport, the veteran criticized the way athletes manage their careers. The fighter, however, appointed a possible successor to the position of 'spectators' favorite'.

“In my time, you could face any opponent. At least, that's how I was. I see many of them manipulating the system. They say they will face anyone at any time, until they receive the challenge,” said Cerrone, at a press conference at UFC San Antonio.

Despite criticism from the new generation, Donald maintains expectations for a specific athlete. The fighter highlighted the personality of Yair Rodriguez, current interim featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg.).

“This is my chosen one. He won the interim belt and made me very proud. I trained with him before he joined the UFC. Give it all away. It’s him,” he signed off.
