Thiago Marreta celebrates duel against current champion in his PFL debut: 'It couldn't be better'

The Brazilian said he enjoyed making his debut against Rob Wilkinson, the last light heavyweight champion, and was excited for the new career challenge

Close to his PFL debut, the Rio de Janeiro native Thiago Marreta celebrated the fact of having a very high level debut in the new house. In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', the former UFC fighter 'celebrated' having the last light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) Rob Wilkinson as his first rival and was excited for the challenges he will face in the organization.

“In my opinion, it couldn't be better. I'm very happy to fight him. He's the last champion, he's a tough opponent, and it's the best way to make my debut. I think it's the best way to fight now because sometimes something can happen. If you think: 'Let's meet in the final', maybe something could go wrong and it won't happen. But we can fight now and maybe fight in the finals. Do you know? So I think it's a good fight, a great fight, it's going to be 'fireworks'. I’m very excited for this,” said Marreta.

Former UFC light heavyweight challenger, Marreta left the organization chaired by Dana White after eight years of service. In the most famous Octagon in the world, the Tupiniquim athlete has 14 victories, 11 of them by knockout and 10 wins. In the PFL, Thiago will make his debut on April 01st, against Australian Rob Wilkinson.
