Suggestions for Jon Jones for the future of the light heavyweight division are not pleasing the other fighters. Recently, the belt holder showed his desire to see a fight between two of his potential future challengers, Alexander Gustafson e Daniel Cormier, so that the winner will face him in the fight for the title.

Furthermore, Jones criticized the marriage of Gustafsson's last fight, against Jimi Manuwa, suggesting that the UFC wants to facilitate the Swede's path towards a new title fight.

This all irritated Phil Davis, fourth in the official ranking of the category. In an interview with the Canadian television channel “SportsNet”, the North American dealt with the subject ironically. “Why don’t they give him a job? Put him on the payroll. Let’s see what he can do with the lightweights, as it seems like he loves to match fights,” he said.

Davis continued: “He put himself in an interesting situation. 'Why not have a light heavyweight tournament and put the winner against Jon Jones?' That's pretty much what he's saying. Let's call it Ultimate Jon Jones Fighting Championship”, he criticized.

Phil Davis He already has a commitment to return to the UFC. He will face Anthony Johnson at event number 172, in Baltimore, United States, on the same day that Jones will defend his belt once again, against Glover Teixeira.
