The lobby in favor of holding a fight between the UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and the Invicta FC featherweight champion Chris Cyborg, the main exponents of women's MMA today, gained a boost in weight. Last week, during an event held by one of her sponsors in São Paulo (SP), Anderson Silva, considered by many to be the greatest pound-for-pound fighter in history, demonstrated his support for the cause and even stated that President Dana White owes the promotion of the fight to Ultimate fans.
“I believe this fight needs to happen. Ronda is a great fighter. But Cris has a 90% chance of winning the Round. She trains a lot and has all the necessary characteristics and techniques to win the Round. This fight needs to happen, because Dana White owes it to the UFC audience”, said Spider, in an interview with the “Combate” channel website.
At 28, Chris Cyborg has a record of 12 wins, one defeat and one fight without result. The Curitiba native is constantly linked to a possible transfer to Ultimate, but the matter has not been viewed favorably by Dana White. Already Ronda Rousey, 27 years old, has a perfect record of nine wins. The UFC champion won eight fights via armbar submission, seven of them in the first round, and won in her most recent fight, against Sara McMann, his first victory by knockout.
