Former UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg), Chuck Liddell has already had memorable battles in the cage, but the choice of his favorite fight in his career was surprising. Participating in the podcast 'Chattin Pony Podcast', commanded by the fighter Paddy Pimblett, the MMA legend recalled the clash against José 'Pelé' Landi, which took place in Brazil.
“I’ve fought a lot of great guys. They are all big fights. My second fight, or third fight. Pelé (José Landi), back in Brazil, it was cool. It took 30 minutes, without gloves. (…) The second fight would be with Randy (Couture). I got the knockout and the title. I prove what I said I said I could do. If I had to choose one, it would be this one. He had never been knocked out before. It was from a heavyweight champion. That was cool,” Liddell said.

The fight in question took place in São Paulo, in August 1998. Chuck Liddell had just made his MMA debut with a victory in a fight at UFC 17 and accepted an invitation from IVC 6 to replace Wallid Ismail and face José Pelé Landi with a month of advance. The American fought for 30 minutes and won a unanimous decision.
Against Randy Couture, Liddell got revenge in a rematch valid for the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg) and managed to defend the title for the second time. At UFC 52, he scored a knockout in 1m28sec. and became the first athlete to knock out his rival in an MMA fight.
