Last Saturday (15), the MMA spotlight was focused on Dallas (USA), where UFC 171 was taking place and the new welterweight champion of the main organization on the planet would be defined. Meanwhile, in London (England), far from the millionaire figures and rapturous audiences, a significant milestone for the sport was reached. During the WCMMA 15 event, athlete Mike Garret achieved the fastest knockout in history, 1,7 seconds into the fight, with a high kick applied to Sam Heron.

Garret's kick was applied just 1,1 seconds after the start of the fight. The rest of the time lasted until the moment the referee stopped the fight. This combination between a lightning kick and a quick intervention from the responsible judge, culminated, as mentioned, in the fastest knockout ever recorded in MMA.
